FAQ
Where can I get a free InBody scan near me?
At Peak Nutrition Scottsdale (Kierland Village Center, 6501 E Greenway Pkwy Ste 150, (480) 428-4999) and Peak Nutrition Gilbert (Crossroads Towne Center, 3855 S Gilbert Rd Ste 109, (480) 636-8909). Our Tempe store is reopening in November.
How much does an InBody scan cost?
Nothing. It's free at Peak Nutrition, every time. No purchase needed.
What is an InBody scan?
It's a quick body composition scan. You stand on the device barefoot and hold the handles. It sends a tiny, safe signal through your body to estimate fat, muscle and water.
How long does it take?
The scan takes about 30 seconds. Plan a few extra minutes so a certified nutrition coach can walk you through your results.
What does the InBody scan measure?
Body fat percentage, skeletal muscle mass, body fat mass, lean body mass, total body water, visceral fat level, segmental lean and fat analysis, basal metabolic rate and your InBody score.
Do I need an appointment?
No. Walk in any time we're open, or book ahead with the form on this page. You can also tap to call your store.
Do I have to buy anything?
No. The scan is free with no obligation.
How accurate is an InBody scan?
InBody is a good way to track change over time. Your numbers can shift a little with water, food and workouts. That's why we suggest scanning under the same conditions each time and watching the trend, not one result.
How should I prepare for an InBody scan?
Scan at the same time of day each visit. Go before a workout and before a big meal, and use the restroom first. Keep your normal water routine the day before.
What should I wear?
Normal clothes are fine. You'll take off shoes and socks, plus heavy jewelry or watches.
Who should not take a scan?
Skip it if you have a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device, or if you're pregnant. When in doubt, ask your doctor first.
How often can I scan?
As often as you like. Every 2 to 4 weeks is a good rhythm to track progress.
How do I read my InBody results?
Start with three numbers: body fat percentage, skeletal muscle mass and visceral fat level. A certified nutrition coach will go over your printout with you in plain words.
What is a good InBody score?
The InBody score compares your muscle and fat to a typical healthy range. Higher is generally better. Your coach will help you pick a realistic goal based on your starting point.
Who reviews my results?
Our certified nutrition coaches. They help you understand your numbers and set goals. This is not a medical exam or diagnosis.
Can an InBody scan help with weight loss?
Yes. It shows whether you're losing fat or losing muscle. That matters, because keeping muscle helps you look better and keep the weight off. Your coach uses your scan to shape your plan.
How do Peak's coaches and InBody work together?
Scan, plan, re-scan. Your scan shows where you're starting. Your certified nutrition coach helps you set protein, meal and habit goals. Every few weeks you scan again to see what's working and adjust.
What if the scale isn't moving?
That's common when you're building muscle and losing fat at the same time. Your InBody results show the change the scale can't.
Is this the same as a DEXA scan?
No. DEXA is an X-ray scan usually done at a clinic or lab. InBody uses a tiny electrical signal, takes about 30 seconds and is free at Peak. Both estimate body composition.
How we use your free InBody scan to help you lose weight
Step 1: Scan (30 seconds, free). Step on, hold the handles, get your printout.
Step 2: Talk it over. A certified nutrition coach explains your body fat, muscle and visceral fat in plain words.
Step 3: Make a simple plan. One or two goals to start — usually protein, water and daily movement. Only the supplements that fit. No pressure.
Step 4: Re-scan every 2–4 weeks. Watch fat go down and muscle hold steady. Adjust with your coach as you go.
